The Fond du Lac boys volleyball team started its postseason Friday with a 25-27, 25-12, 25-19, 25-19 regional final victory against Homestead at the Fondy Fieldhouse.
“It was a nice way to start the tournament,” Fondy coach Royal Smit said. “It wasn’t a pretty win but it was a win. That’s all you’re shooting for this time of year.”
Collin Pickart led the attack with 22 kills, and Logan Wendt dished out 47 assists.
Defensively, Wendt and Jack Kiefer both had 10 digs and Charlie Andrew kept eight points alive with digs. Ian Giebel blocked three shots.
Next up for the third-seeded Cardinals is a trip to second-seeded Arrowhead Tuesday night in a sectional semifinal.
“We need to continue using our momentum,” Smit said. “We’ll be facing a good Arrowhead team. It’s definitely a game I believe we can win. We just need to go in and execute the way we’re capable of.”
He said specifically his team needs to improve their serving from Friday’s match.
