Fondy's Feltz wins No. 1 singles


Fond du Lac High School’s girls tennis team had one individual champion and tied for fifth place in the Fox Valley Association after the FVA Meet on Thursday in Appleton.

Fondy scored a total of 35 points to tie for fifth place with Appleton North. Neenah won the championship with 67 points, which includes points earned from regular-season dual matches.

The Cardinals’ No. 1 player Nicole Feltz defeated Oshkosh West’s Liz Edsell, 6-2, 6-3 in the championship match. Feltz won her opening match 6-0, 6-2 over a Menasha opponent. In her semifinal match she beat an Appleton North player in two sets to advance to the final.

Fondy’s next best finish came from the No. 1 doubles team of Erin Cole and Emily Nett won its first match in two sets against a Kimberly team. After losing a match to Oshkosh North in three sets, Cole and Nett dropped the third-place match to Neenah in two sets.
