Harper Creek is getting a repeat trip to the state semifinals and the Beavers will be involved in a rematch with the same opponent they saw last year.
Harper Creek will face Orchard Lake St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chelsea High School in a Division 3 state semifinal contest as times and locations were announced by the Michigan High School Athletic Association on Monday. All state semifinal games are played on a neutral field.
Last year, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s scored in the final minute to beat Harper Creek, 14-10, in the state semifinals and advance to the state championship game. That game was played in Jackson. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s went on to win the state title.
The No. 4-ranked Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (10-2) squad rolled over Detroit East English, 42-24, last week to advance to this point.
Harper Creek rallied to beat Tecumseh, 26-24, to improve to 10-2 on the season.
The winner of the game will face either DeWitt (10-2) or Grand Rapids Christian (11-1), in the Division 3 state championship game.
If you are a high school football fan, but can’t get to the Harper Creek game on the road, there are state semifinals games in Battle Creek this weekend.
In Division 1, Rockford will face Novi Detroit Catholic Central at Battle Creek Central, 1 p.m. Saturday.
In Division 6, Constantine will face Monroe St. Mary CC at Harper Creek.
