Michael Rucker had two rushing touchdowns and a passing score as Yankton held off Pierre 27-21 on Saturday in Pierre.
Evan Schroeder opened the scoring for Yankton in the first quarter before Rucker scored on a short run. Rucker added a 25-yard passing touchdown to Chris Brown and scored on a 23-yard run, both in the second quarter.
The Bucks led 14-0 after the first quarter before Pierre scored on a 26-yard Alex Gray to Austin Christopherson pass. Down 27-7, Austin Wagner ran in for an 8-yard score to bring Pierre within 27-14. The Governors added their final touchdown in the third, when Gray passed to Shay Reinke for 15 yards.
James Hisek led Yankton with 64 rushing yards and Austin Wagner had 107 rushing yards for the Governors. Gray and Rucker both passed for 76 yards. Pierre had 242 rushing yards on 50 carries compared to Yankton’s 131 on 39 carries.

WATERTOWN 22, MITCHELL 14 in Watertown – Shay Bratland scored on a 90-yard kickoff return and a 19-yard run to spark the Arrows. He rushed 15 times for 95 yards.
Trevor Jutting added a 31-yard TD pass to Jess Poppen, and Poppen kicked a 32-yard field goal. Watertown led 22-7 before Mitchell scored the final TD. For Mitchell, Mitch Johnson scored on a 1-yard run and Landon Neugebauer on a 2-yard run. The Kernels had five turnovers. Watertown had 219 total yards, while Mitchell had 293.
