Fort Collins-area soccer teams take to the pitch

By

There might not have been any state championships local teams claimed last fall, but boys soccer in Fort Collins continues to make a positive climb.

Fossil Ridge, Fort Collins and Heritage Christian all had finishes in the upper half of their respective leagues while Windsor ran away with the Tri-Valley Conference title. Add in Liberty Common, which starts its first season as a CHSAA-sanctioned school this year, and the fall looks to be another exciting one.

Fall sports season previews continue today as The Coloradoan takes a look at the soccer teams around Northern Colorado.

* The lingo:

“We actually enter this season, potentially, a little deeper than last season despite having our all-state captain graduate. Our outlook is pretty good if our young crop of new players can quickly learn the system and contribute on the field. We have pushed hard this training camp to play a high-octane and high-pressure brand of soccer, so we can hopefully outwork and outlast any team we step on the field with. If we can do all of this, then I suspect a playoff run at hand, but if we fail to achieve this, then we will fall short due to the depth of our league including our new in city rival Liberty.”
