Fossil Ridge girls win swimming invitational


With six first-place finishes, the Fossil Ridge High School girls swimming team ran away with the team title at a tri meet with Poudre and Greeley West at EPIC in Fort Collins, scoring 220 points.

The SaberCats’ ‘B’ team finished second with 195 points, while Greeley West placed third with 149. Poudre scored 131.

Fossil Ridge’s Jayden Glover took first in two events. She won the 100-yard breastroke in a time of 1 minute 14.17 seconds, and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.66. Teammate, Sammie Guay won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.46.

Marissa Bradley of Poudre won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.43 and was a member of the Impalas’ first-place 200-yard freestyle relay, which swam a 1:49.37 to hold off Fossil Ridge.

WINDSOR 269.5, NORTHRIDGE 129.5 — Kaiti Roush qualified for state in the 100-yard backstroke, winning the race in a time of 1:06.5. The Wizards won eight races in the duel.


HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 47, CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN 13 — Kassi Kuppinger scored 15 points and Micaela Bush added nine as Heritage Christian routed Cornerstone Christian at home.

The Eagles (2-1) held Cornerstone Christian scoreless in the first quarter and led 30-5 at halftime.


HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 82, CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN 33 — Matthew McGinley scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures for the Eagles in the rout.

Jake Huebner scored 11 points, while Garrett Niichel, Ryan Hurley and Joel Barreras each added 10 for Heritage Christian (3-0), which led 42-15 at halftime.
