Fossil Ridge tennis team wins Longmont Invitational

The Fossil Ridge boys tennis team continued its strong season Saturday by winning the Longmont Invitational.

The SaberCats ran away with the competition, finishing with 75 team points. The closest competitor to Fossil Ridge was Monarch with 55 points, followed by third-place Rocky Mountain with 27. Windsor finished in fifth place with with 22 points.

BOULDER 4, FORT COLLINS 3 — The Fort Collins tennis team dropped a close match Saturday to Boulder at home.

The Lambkins won two of the three singles contests, but in doubles, it was the Panthers showing their dominance. The one win Fort Collins did get in doubles was at the No. 3 spot, where Ben Koch and Connor Shore defeated Jackson Feld and Dan Cleveland, 6-0, 6-0.

CROSS COUNTRY

Heritage Christian took home the title at Liberty to Liberty meet in both the girls and boys races.

Andrew Wallace and Taylor Glasgow had the best boys and girls times for Heritage, respectively, with 19 minutes, 28.6 seconds and 22:17.9.

However, when it came to first-place individual results, Liberty Common stole the show.

Joe Caraway finished first in the boys race with a time of 18:17.7 and Jessica Granner won the girl’s, crossing the finish line in 21:05.4

SOFTBALL

LOVELAND 4, POUDRE 0 — The Poudre softball team only gave up two hits, but committed five errors in a 4-0 loss to Loveland.

The Impalas loaded the bases in the second inning with zero outs, but couldn’t push any runs across.

FOSSIL RIDGE 16, ROCKY MOUNTAIN 6 — Fossil Ridge scored eight runs in the first inning and even though the SaberCats would add eight more in the game, they didn’t need them.

FORT COLLINS 7, GREELEY WEST 2 — No further information available.

SOCCER

ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1, RALSTON VALLEY 0 — The Lobos squeezed out a low-scoring affair Saturday at French Field by shutting out Ralston Valley.

Carl Erickson scored the lone goal 25 minutes into the match with a header off the cross pass by Shane Wagner.

Rocky Mountain moves to 3-3 on the season with the victory.

HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 7, EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN 1 — Heritage Christian’s Matthew McGinley scored five goals in the Eagles win.
