Four named to coaches all-state team



Riverdale seniors Josh Arman and Seth Guiler lead a Rutherford County quartet that have been named to the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association’s Class AAA all-state team.

Guiler was named the District 7-AAA Offensive MVP while Arman was named the district’ Defensive MVP. The Riverdale duo were joined by Siegel senior Ryan Stroh and Blackman junior Paxton Mitchell.

Guiler, a forward, has signed with Union. He led District 7-AAA with 21 goals and had seven assists. He had the game winner against Ooltewah in the Class AAA sectional to put Riverdale in its third consectuive state tournament. Riverdale went on to defeat Germantown Houston in the Class AAA quarterfinals for the school’s first state tournament win in the program’s history.

Arman, who like Guiler was a four-year starter, had two assists from his defensive position. Arman, who has signed with Cumberland University, suffered a season-ending injury when he broke his leg against Brentwood during the regular season.

Riverdale lost to eventual state champion Brentwood in the Class AAA semifinals.

Stroh, who played various positions for the Stars this season, was named to the all-state team as a defender. Stroh was a key cog in Siegel’s season, which included a third-place regular finish in District 7-AAA.

Mitchell, a goalkeeper and DNJ player of the year, had two shutouts during the season. He gave up one goal or less in 10 of the Blaze’s 16 games.
