Gatorade makes Mountain Pointe junior Jalen Brown Arizona Football POY

Phoenix Mountain Pointe junior wide receiver/safety Jalen Brown has been chosen the Gatorade Arizona High School Football Player of the Year.

Brown, 6-foot-2, 178 pounds, helped lead Mountain Pointe to its first trip to the Division I championship game with 68 catches for 1,235 yards and 18 touchdowns. Healso had five interceptions.

He is rated as the No.46 recruit in the nation for the Class of 2014 by Scout.com.

The award goes to a top player who also meets high academic standards and is involved in the community.

Brown has a 3.42 grade-point average and has volunteered in fund-raising campaigns to fight cancer.
