The Central field hockey team got a first-half goal and that’s all it needed as the Golden Eagles defeated Manchester, 1-0, in a Class B South game on Friday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Brittany Oldehoff got the ball at the top of the circle and she dribbled inside the circle and then blasted a shot to the right side of the cage for the Golden Eagles (7-0-1, 7-0-1) against the Hawks (2-5, 2-4).

LACEY 2, BRICK 0: Lauren Miklosey scored at 7:07 and Abigail Granit scored at 18:22 to lead the Lions (7-2, 5-1) over the Dragons (4-6, 3-6) in a Class A South game. Lacey goalie Karlie McCarthy had five saves for her fourth shutout of the season.

Senior goalie Gina Rucci made nine saves for the Dragons.

PINELANDS 3, JACKSON LIB. 0: Elisha Hartman, Noel Hartman and Summer Keady each had a goal and Kirsten Holloway had two assists as the Wildcats (4-3) defeated the Lions (4-3) in a Class B South game.

SHORE 6, ST. ROSE 0: Jessica Welch scored two goals and Kara Casale had three assists to lead the Blue Devils (8-1, 7-0) past the Purple Roses (3-5, 3-3) in a Class B Central game.

Goalie Shannon Gilbert made nine saves for the Purple Roses and Shore’s Shannon Johnson made six saves.

IN BOYS SOCCER

MANASQUAN 1, RARITAN 0: On a corner kick play from the right side of the field, Andrew Dayton kicked the ball into the box and J.D. Kuper headed it in to the far post for his second goal of the season. Manasquan’s Andrew Zangrando made four saves and Raritan’s Charles Seelinger made seven saves.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 3, TR SOUTH 1: Matthew Fryc headed the ball into the upper left corner of the goal in the 38th minute leading the undefeated Jaguars (8-0, 7-0) over the Indians (4-5, 3-5) in a Class A South game.

Ed Guippone also scored for the Jaguars off an assist from Christian Jimenez in the 48th minute. Ben Osei scored the only goal of the game for the Indians in the 12th minute.

IN GIRLS SOCCER

FREEHOLD TWP. 1, MARLBORO 0: Senior forward Nicole Torress scored the game-winning goal from 25 yards out to the right side of the net as the Patriots (5-1-2, 5-1-2) defeated the Mustangs ()3-4-1, 2-3-1) in a Class A North game.

Freehold Township junior goalie Hayley Pascoal made seven saves and Marlboro junior goalie Martina Stewart made 18 saves.

COLTS NECK 2, HOWELL 2: Brittany Hamilton and Jessica Vigna scored goals for the Rebels (2-2-2, 2-2-2) while Danielle Krachie and Tori Zamarra scored for the Cougars (5-2-1, 4-2-1). Colts Neck goalie Lauren Zborovancik made two saves and Howell goalie Caitlin Matus made five saves.

LACEY 1, JACKSON LIBERTY 0: Senior midfielder Brihanna Martins scored at 28:00 as the Lions (3-6) edged the Lions (1-7-1) in a Class B South game.

FREEHOLD 8, RED BANK 0: Sophomore forward SarahGrace Johnson had a hat trick, junior midfielder Meghan Holtz had one goal and five assists and Chelsi Bender had one goal and one assist as the Colonials (9-0, 8-0) defeated the Bucs (2-7-1, 2-5-1) in a Class B North game. Freehold used goalies Sara Cobb (two saves) and Meghan Hurler (one save) while Red Bank used Devon VanLoon (three saves) and Mia Nelson (three saves).
