Grand Junction city councilors voted Wednesday to give the funds to the junior college tournament, a 50-year-old playoff held annually in Grand Junction for junior college teams that have won their regional division titles.

According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, the city promised to give the money to college baseball while recruiting the rookie affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

The annual payment negotiated for 15 years is worth $375,000.
