The podiums at the 2012 Front Range League Cross Country Championships had a distinctive city flavor at the Adams County Fairgrounds on Friday.
Fort Collins won both the boy’s and girl’s champinoships, while Poudre senior Grant Fischer and Fort Collins senior Erin Hooker placed first individually.
Fischer finished in a meet record 15:33 and Hooker broke her own school record by finishing in 17:22.
The Lambkins boy’s team took the team title over Boulder by virtue of the sixth runner tiebreak (teams had same score after scoring best five runners) while the girl’s team dominated the competition with 35 points while second place Fairview recorded 99.
Points are awarded based on a runner’s finish, so the lowest total score wins.
Fossil Ridge’s No. 3 doubles team of Kevin Schultz and Trevor Swanbom advanced through the playbacks system to Saturday’s third-place match beginning at 9 a.m.
Fort Collins’ Ben Koch and Connor Shore, also No. 3 doubles, defeated Legend’s Logan Miller and Davis Page 6-3; 6-2, but bowed out in the second playback match against Jake Becker and Dylan Tanis from Arapahoe 4-6; 6-2; 7-6 (7-1).
