Running back Mason Dean scored twice and the Harpursville defense extended its scoreless streak in a 41-0 victory over Deposit/Hancock on Saturday in Section 4 football.
Harpursville’s defense has not allowed a touchdown in 14 quarters.
The Hornets’ Steven Lee opened the game scoring on a 75-yard kick return. He also rushed for a touchdown. Andrew Kimmel also added 51 yards on seven rushes.
Harpursville’s defense also scored on a safety by John Andrews while sacking Matt Mills and a 40-yard interception return by Devon Dean.
“We played very physical football and took care of the line of scrimmage,” Harpursville coach Tim Petras said.
* Delhi 56, Livingston Manor 8: Delhi scored 40 points in the first quarter and were never threatened, cruising past visiting Livingston Manor.
Quarterback Brian Dennison threw touchdown passes on the only two throws he attempted, and he also accounted for three 2-point conversions — two rushing and one passing.
Ryan Talian ran for 45 yards and two touchdowns accounting four the first and last of the Bulldogs’ five first-quarter scores.
Brian Ingram ran for 41 yards and had touchdown and two-point runs, and Brandon Simonds had 58 yards receiving and two scores for Delhi (2-2).
Andrew Cummings had 21 carries for 68 yards with a touchdown and a two-point run for Livingston Manor (0-4).
* Sidney 26, Walton 0: Sidney (3-1) had a balanced attack, not allowing Walton (1-3) to score in a Midstate Athletic Conference game. Sidney had 155 yards rushing led by Brandon Walters with 82 yards. He also had 149 yards receiving. William Kozak had 127 yards with 4 catches while Patrick Vibbard was 5-for-9 passing with 2 touchdowns.
Walton had 176 yards rushing, led by Trevor Spencer with 60 yards on 13 carries.
* Unadilla Valley 22, Whitney Point 20: Dakota Kolvik scored on a 6-yard touchdown run with 7:49 remaining, then caught Kurt Haycock’s pass on the two-point conversation for the game-winning points as UV (2-2) rallied to beat host Whitney Point (1-3).
The Golden Eagles had one last chance to win, but Victor Beecher missed left on a 23-yard field goal try with under a minute remaining.
WP’s Matt Driscoll, who had a team-high 91 yards rushing, scored on a 2-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter to give his team a 20-14 lead.
Haycock completed 11 of 18 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown for UV.
