The Heritage High Panthers are brimming with confidence after a third consecutive dominating performance.
Kalil Owens and Dedric Witherspoon both ran for two touchdowns and the Heritage defense held Harmony to just 27 yards of offense — and only one first down — in a 45-0 homecoming victory Friday night.
Heritage, now 3-0, has outscored its opponents 138-7 so far this season.
The scoring came early and often for the Panthers on Friday. A Witherspoon interception set up the first touchdown — a 4-yard run by Owens — and on the ensuing kickoff, Josh Gaines recovered a Harmony fumble. That set up a 2-yard Witherspoon touchdown run and the Panthers were off and running.
Heritage QB Clinton Moxam completed 4-of-9 passes for 83 yards and also ran for a touchdown in one half of play.
KEY PLAYERS: Gaines carried the ball only five times, but gained 106 yards and scored on a 46-yard touchdown run. Owens had 11 carries for 77 yards.
THEY SAID IT: “It’s a good way to celebrate homecoming. Shutouts always make everybody feel good,” said Heritage coach Ajay Ulmer
WHAT’S NEXT: Heritage hits the road to play at Port St. Lucie.
RECORDS: Harmony 0-3 overall, Heritage 3-0 overall.
