High school All-Sports Awards winners are determined

Iowa City West and Dubuque Wahlert each repeated as champion in the Des Moines Register Iowa high school All-Sports Awards competition for the 2011-12 school year.
Iowa City West sealed the Large Schools division when their softball and baseball teams both qualified for state tournament action. West has won the division four times in the 13 years of the competition that awards schools for points in state tournament play.
In the Medium Schools division, Dubuque Wahlert earned its sixth Awards title by a two-point margin over Decorah. There would have been a tie if Decorah would have won the state Class 3-A baseball title game against Dallas Center-Grimes.
As reported earlier, Davenport Assumpion secured the Small Schools division title before entering the two summer state tournaments.
