Players to watch

Collin Reynolds, Newton: The senior ranks sixth in Class 3-A with 500 yards receiving. Reynolds has 34 catches, including three touchdown grabs. He caught 11 passes for 177 yards and two scores two weeks ago against Dallas Center-Grimes.

Mitchell Lensch, Glidden-Ralston: The sixth-leading rusher in the state padded his stats last week with 23 carries for 314 yards and six touchdowns in a 76-22 win against Coon Rapids-Bayard. The senior has 1,504 yards rushing this season and 31 touchdowns.

Michael Kinning, Johnston: The senior connected on 21-of-28 passing for 325 yards and five touchdowns in a 37-0 win against Fort Dodge. Kinning has 14 touchdown passes this season and only two interceptions.

Brandon Brittain, Van Meter: The junior accounted for 349 yards of offense last week during a 33-13 win against Pella Christian. Brittain, the sixth-leading passer in 1-A, has thrown for 1,061 yards and rushed for 591 more this season.

Games to watch

Boone (6-1) at Grinnell (7-0), 7:30 p.m.: No. 10 Boone stumbled for the first time this season, losing last week to South Tama. Third-ranked Grinnell leads Class 3-A in scoring, averaging 44.3 points, and nobody has scored more than two touchdowns in a game against the Tigers.

Harlan (6-1) at Atlantic (5-2), 7:30 p.m.: Seventh-ranked Harlan is one of three teams with a loss in 3-A’s District 1. Atlantic is tied for fifth place and its playoff hopes could rest on winning out.
