Three Middlebury players scored rushing touchdown and Austin Robinson added a scoring pass in the fourth quarter to cap the Tigers’ 41-6 win over Mount Anthony in a Division I high school football game Friday night.
Middlebury received rushing TDs from Sam Smith (6 yards), Tyler Provencher (15-yard option keeper) and Jakob Trautwein (25 yards), part of a ground attack that saw 11 Tigers tote the ball. Robinson connected with Josiah Benoit from 8 yards out for his team’s final touchdown.
Mount Anthony’s lone TD came on a 3-yard run by Conner Rawling in the fourth quarter to cap a 14-play, 96-yard drive.
* Hartford 36, Mount Mansfield 0: Taylor Potter sprung for a 67-yard touchdown run on his first carry to ignite Hartford’s Division I win over visiting Mount Mansfield.
Hartford (3-0) had three touchdowns negated by penalties in the first half led 17-0 at halftime.
Mount Mansfield, coming off a win over Rutland last weekend, falls to 1-2.
* BFA-South Burlington game suspended: The Division I game between BFA-St. Albans and visiting South Burlington was suspended by lightning with BFA leading 28-7 at halftime.
The game will resume tonight at 7 p.m. in St. Albans. The radio broadcast will be provided by WCAT-AM 1390.
