High school football: The season's fourth "Shining Star" is announced

Readers have determined that Cal Stovie of Cedar Rapids Xavier is the third winner of the Register’s Shining Star award, which will be determined each week of the Iowa high school football regular season.
Cal Stovie
Stovie, a senior running back, rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns during a 48-14 victory against Cedar Rapids Prairie last week. He also caught two passes for 21 yards.
He received 447 of the 955 votes (46.8 percent).
The other five candidates were Logan Augustine of Urbandale; Jordan Cheatem of Des Moines Lincoln; Eli Dunne of Grinnell; Kyle Stephenson of South Tama; and Alex VanGerpen of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.
Coaches are asked to nominate players by contacting the Register’s Tommy Birch on Saturday before 11 a.m. at tbirch@dmreg.com or via Twitter @TommyBirch. A new set of candidates will be announced and voting will begin at DesMoinesRegister.com on Saturday afternoon.
The previous winners: Kenny Floyd of Norwalk and Nate Boland of Iowa City West.
