ATTICA – Maci Kyger scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures Saturday as Attica captured the Bi-County girls basketball tournament championship with a 66-52 victory over Fountain Central.
Kyger was 5 of 5 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Red Ramblers (9-3) stave off a comeback attempt by the Mustangs. Fountain Central (3-8) trailed 54-26 entering the fourth quarter but Linley Smith had eight of her game-high 24 points during the final eight minutes to help make things interesting.
Chelsey LaDuke added 12 points for Attica, which also received 10 apiece from Kayley Sosnowski and Kaylynn Kirkpatrick.
Fountain Central 46
ATTICA – Ethan Woodrow scored 15 points to help Fountain Central (7-1) claim the consolation game of the Bi-County Tournament.
The Mustangs (7-1) overcame 39 percent shooting by outscoring Seeger 8-2 at the free throw line.
Jordan Stover had 17 points for the Patriots (7-2).

North Newton 60
MOROCCO – Fourteen 3-pointers made by the Spartans weren’t enough to overcome a 40-point second half for Covenant Christian (DeMotte).
Wade Scheurich scored a team-high 15 points for North Newton (0-6), while Justin Grevers added 14.
Caleb Herrema’s 22 points led four players in double figures for Covenant Christian (2-5).
Lafayette Jeff offensive lineman Sam McKay was also honored recently by the Indianapolis Colts as a member of their 2012 Indiana Academic All-Stars.
McKay joined Central Catholic defensive lineman Jimmy Mills, Benton Central quarterback Brandon Rooze, Carroll defensive back Ryan Spesard and Covington offensive lineman Eric Stull in being recognized during the Colts’ Dec. 9 game against Tennessee at Lucas Oil Stadium.
