Massillon Jackson student-athlete Cassie Pantelas won the ages 16-18 division of the 2012 Nationwide Children’s Junior Golf Classic on Monday. Pantelas’ latest victory came on the heels of the 16-year-old winning the Oak Harbor LEJGA tournament on July 19.
After decommitting from Penn State on Monday, Avon rising senior cornerback Ross Douglass verbally agreed on Tuesday to attend the University of Michigan and to join the Wolverines’ football program in fall 2013.
2012 Akron Springfield graduate Matt Thomas recently committed to attend Tiffin University this fall and to play for the Dragons’ baseball team.
2012 Woodridge graduate She’Kiera Brooks recently committed to attend Baldwin-Wallace University this fall and join the Yellow Jackets’ women’s basketball program.
St. Vincent-St. Mary junior football standout Dante Booker was recently ranked the No. 1 college football prospect in his graduating class in the state by Rivals.com.
St. Ignatius rising senior football standout Tim McVey recently orally committed to attend the University at Buffalo in fall 2013 and to join the Bulls’ gridiron program.
Massillon Jackson rising junior pitcher Jonny Nottingham recently orally committed to attend the University of Akron in fall 2013 and to join the Zips’ baseball program.
Massillon Jackson swimmers Chase Kinney and Biz Graeff helped the Meyers Lake YMCA Manta Rays swim team finish third at the Mid-Ohio Swim League championship meet in Wooster on Wednesday.
Walsh Jesuit rising senior baseball player Cassidy Brown recently orally committed to attend Loyola Marymount University in fall 2013 and to join the Lions’ baseball program.
North Canton Hoover rising senior Dom Iero recently orally committed to attend the University of Akron in fall 2013 and to join the Zips’ baseball program.
The East squad defeated the West squad 24-20 in the 35th annual Times-Reporter Charities All-Star Football Game on Friday night. Malvern’s Shawn Ball, New Philadelphia’s Connor Argento, Coshocton’s Brody Philabaum and Ridgewood’s Landon Smith were named the game’s MVPs.
