Mitchell Forde was victorious in four events to lead the host St. Xavier High School swim team to a 125-44 win over rival Trinity on Sunday.
Forde won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16 seconds and the 100 free in 48.22. He also helped the Tigers win the 200 and 400 free relays.
“We didn’t get to swim a dual meet against (Trinity) last year, so I was very excited for my last chance to swim against them head-to-head,” said Forde, a senior. “I think winning the first relay set the tone that we were going to win.”
St. X coach Todd Larkin praised two other swimmers — Robert Leasure (won 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley) and Nick Sehlinger (won 100 breaststroke and 200 medley relay).
“We’ve worked really hard to build our depth as a program, and in a dual meet that really comes into play,” Larkin said. “I was proud of our guys for their attitudes today with us being in the middle of midterms.”
Thomas Cooper was Trinity’s only first-place finisher, winning the 200 free (1:45.37) and 100 butterfly (53.42).
