The Holmdel boys soccer team clinched their third straight Shore Conference Class A Central title on Monday with a 3-0 win over Manasquan. Sophomore Gino D’Agostino had one goal and one assist for the Hornets (10-1).
D’Agostino scored in the 30th minute off an assist from senior striker Zach Bond to put the Hornets up 2-0 at the end of the first half.
Senior goalie Mitch Walier also put together his eighth shut out of the year for the Hornets.
JACKSON MEMORIAL 2, LACEY 1: Christian Jiminez scored the opening goal of the game for the Jaguars (13-0) leading them over the Lions (6-6) in a Class A South game. Matt Fryc also added another for the Jaguars in the 60th minute off an assist from Ryan Young.
Kevin Tonkovich scored the only goal of the game for the Lions in the 73rd minute.
LONG BRANCH 4, OCEAN 1: Welke Galvao scored two goals and had one assist leading the Green Wave (9-3) over the Spartans (11-1-1) in a Class B North game.
Galvao scored his first goal in the 34th minute and put the game out of reach in the second half with his second goal of the game.
MONMOUTH 4, RARITAN 3: Down 3-1 in the second, Monmouth Regional was able to complete a comeback in regulation as senior Stephan Bard chased down a long clearing kick and scored the game winning goal as the Falcons (3-11) beat the Rockets (5-6-1, 4-6) in this Class A Central match. The goal was Bard’s second of the game.
IN GIRLS SOCCER:
RARITAN 1, MONMOUTH 0: After a free kick by Erika Lenzsak sent the ball off the head of Jess Benoit, who directed it three feet from the cage, Kylie Whelan collected the ball and found the back of the net at 85:37 as the Rockets (2-6-1) flew past the Falcons (3-9-1) in the overtime period of this Class A Central meeting.
HOLMDEL 2, MANASQUAN 1: Allyssa Cuccurullo carried down the right side of the field, crossed a ball to the six-yard line where it was collected by Gabby Baer. Baer then crushed a shot off the left post and in the goal at 50:43, for her second score of the afternoon, giving the Hornets (7-5-1, 7-2-1) the victory in this Class A Central matchup with the Warriors (2-9-1, 1-8).
IN FIELD HOCKEY:
RUMSON-FH 1, FREEHOLD TWP 0: Kathrine Barrett’s goal 21:19 into the first half enabled the No. 7 Bulldogs (11-1) to knock the No. 2 Patriots (11-1) from the unbeaten ranks in a nondivisional match.
Off a penalty corner, the ball found its way to Madsion Maguire. Maguire passed the ball across the goal and Barrett was at the right post to tap it in in.
Sarah Moore stopped four shots to record the shutout.
TR SOUTH 3, BRICK 0: Victoria Alvarez scored a goal and assisted on another and Noelle Shirey had three assists as the No. 10 Indians (11-2, 10-2) defeated the Green Dragons (5-9, 4-9) in a Class A South match.
Meghan Lee stopped four shots to record the shutout.
