Homer spikers top Bellevue, 3-0



A pair of local prep volleyball teams met on the court in Bellevue on Monday.

Homer defeated the host Broncos 3-0 in the non-league dual, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

The Trojans (4-2) were led by Hannah Wilson with six kills and one dig in the victory.

Also for Homer, Jamie Dibble had eight aces to go with four kills; Stephanie Osborn had five kills, one dig and one block; and Kristin Nelson had six digs and two aces.


Vicksburg Round-robin: Pennfield went 1-3 in the round-robin, losing to St. Joseph (25-21, 29-27), Otsego (25-22, 25-16) and Vicksburg (25-20, 25-19) before beating Stevensville Lakeshore (21-25, 25-20, 15-9).

Pennfield (4-6-1) was led by Tristen Ehredt with 32 kills, 11 digs and five aces.

Also for the Panthers, Sydney Smeyers had 62 assists, six aces and 12 digs; Tess Nedham had seven kills and two blocks and Armani Anderson had six kills, five blocks and two aces.


Leslie 7, (At) Olivet 1: The Eagles’ Carney Greene scored on an assist from Joe MacInnes in the loss. Russell Pliley made nine saves in goal in the season-opener for Olivet.


Tecumseh Invitational: Coldwater placed fifth in the eight-team tournament with a score of 419. Host Tecumseh won with a 385.

The Cardinals were led by Anna Wendorf with a 96, which placed her seventh and put her on the All-Tournament team. Also for Coldwater, Abby Denbrock shot a 104, Katie Fair had a 106 and Cecelia Ward and Jacqulyn Neesley each shot 113s.
