Dana Carris of Vestal won the boys race in 17 minutes, 41 seconds Saturday at the Stock Conwicke Cross Country Invitational at Arnold Park in Vestal.
Corning, paced by third-place finisher Brian Bates in 18:18, won the boys meet with 63 points, 30 better than runner-up Union-Endicott. Vestal was third with 94 points.
Susquehanna Valley’s Alex Whitney came in second place in 18:10.
Vestal won the girls team title with 82 points, followed by Chenango Valley (98), Oneonta (101) and Corning (109).
Monticello’s Camryn Johnson won the girls race in 21:23, one second ahead of teammate Sydney Johnson. Susquehanna Valley’s Katie Markstein was third in 21:32.
Girls Soccer
Vestal 3, Horseheads 2: Vestal, the state’s second-ranked Class A team, handed Horseheads its first home loss of the season in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference game.
Rachel Terry scored two goals for Vestal (11-0) and Megan Tinkletaugh added the other. Sam Dilla and Erin Strollo scored for Horseheads (6-5-1), which came into the game with a 5-0 record at home.
Binghamton
2, Union-Endicott 1: Katie Thapsonbat and Hayley Hutchings each had a goal to give Binghamton its first win off the season. Kelcie Gohm scored the only goal for U-E. Binghamton only registered three shots on goal to U-E’s one.
Maine-Endwell 3, Elmira 1: Maine-Endwell snapped visiting Elmira’s two-game winning streak. Megan Raleigh, Erin Savoldi and Sara Schaffer scored for the Spartans (7-3-1). Bee Bulkley scored the only goal for STAC West leader Elmira, which fell to 8-4.
Girls Volleyball
Owego beat Vestal 25-15 to win the 41st annual Bill Mott Classic at Windsor. The tournament semifinals and finals were one game only instead of a best-of-five format. In the semifinals, Owego beat Union-Endicott 25-18 and Vestal advance with a 25-22 victory against Corning.
