GLASGOW – Quarterback Stephen Kowalski rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Glasgow to a 28-12 victory Friday night over Charter of Wilmington in a Blue Hen Flight A game.
Kowalski ran for touchdowns of 6 and 5 yards and threw a 30-yard scoring strike to Malcolm Strand-Young as the Dragons built up a 20-6 halfitme lead. After the Force drew within 20-12 early in the fourth quarter, Robert Brown ran 6 yards for a touchdown with six minutes to go to give Glasgow some insurance.
Kowalski rushed for 85 yards and passed for 95 on the night. Jarrett Ross ran 60 yards for a score in the second quarter and Matthew Oliver passed 7 yards to Ross Kamen for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Charter of Wilmington.
Indian River 40, Woodbridge 17
FRANKFORD – Marquel Knight rushed for 114 yards and scored touchdowns on both offense and defense as Indian River rallied from an early deficit to down Woodbridge in Henlopen South play.
Knight, the Indians’ quarterback, rushed for 2 yards in the second quarter to give IR the lead to stay at 14-10. After Leander Anthony recovered a fumble in the end zone, Knight ran an interception back 101 yards to put the Indians ahead 28-10 at halftime.
Arron Moore rushed for touchdowns 1 and 26 yards and Jalen Griffin added a 55-yard touchdown jaunt for Indian River. Logan Wescott passed 18 yards to Tony Jefferson while Marvin Moore added a one-yard run and Brent Adams kicked a 21-yard field goal for Woodbridge.
Howard 46, Pencader 0
GLASGOW – BJ Wright ran for 65 yards and three touchdowns as Howard’s ground game wore down Pencader Charter in a 46-0 Blue Hen Flight B win.
Marvell Watts rushed for 55 yards and had 151 return yards for the Wildcats, including an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Howard’s defense was led by linebacker Derrick Williams, who tallied eight tackles and a sack.
Silver Oak (Md.) 8, Red Lion Christian 0
RED LION – Silver Oak Academy scored on a punt return in the first quarter and a safety in the fourth and stymied Red Lion Christian in a nonconference battle.
The Lions were led by Ricky Emerson, who intercepted two passes, and tallied about 50 yards rushing.
