The New Holstein High School baseball team got a quality start from pitcher Dominic Probst and 12 hits from its offense for a 4-3 Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory on Tuesday at Kiel.
Probst scattered five hits and a pair of walks while striking out six for the Huskies (6-16, 5-12).
New Holstein took the lead for good in the sixth inning. Trailing 3-1, the Huskies got three runs off three hits in the frame. After a hit by pitch to start the inning, a single by Morgan Freund and a sacrifice bunt moved up the runners for an RBI groundout by Jason Brandt. Ross Klapperich singled up the middle to score Freund, then Klapperich stole second. Chris Greuel then singled in Klapperich for the third run.
Freund led the offense, going 3-for-3. Greuel had two hits, including a double.
Sheboygan Falls 11 Campbellsport 1
Falls scored in four of five innings in the run-rule shortened game.
The Falcons had 10 hits and were also helped by six Cougars’ errors — six runs were earned.
Dustin Salter went 2-for-3 as the Cougars collected just five hits off winning pitcher Nate Heili.
Campbellsport (4-19, 3-14) goes to Kewaskum on Friday.
