Ithaca's Richie Burke wins 132-pound wrestling title at Elmira meet

Richie Burke won the championship at 132 pounds, leading Ithaca to a fifth-place finish at the Elmira City School District Wrestling Tournament on Saturday at Elmira Free Academy.

Burke pinned Deposit-Hancock’s Jason Lobdell in the 132 final to collect the Little Red’s only individual championship. D-H won the team title with 72 points, four better than runner-up Windsor. Owego was third with 60 points, followed by Whitney Point (52) and Ithaca (50).

Other top finishers for Ithaca were Julian Korfine (second at 138), Ian Van Valen (second at 152) and Mike Gould (second at 285).

Dryden placed eighth as a team, and had an individual champion in 145-pounder Jeremy Andrews.

* CV Dual Meet Tournament: Lansing lost twice at the CV duals, falling to the host Warriors, 51-24, and to Susquehanna Valley, 56-24.

Connor Lapresi won both of his matches by fall for the Bobcats, pinning CV’s Steve Alyward in 2:19 and SV’s Marc Yezzi in 1:57.

Other winners for Lansing included Will Lewis (132), who pinned CV’s Jeremy Moyer in 1:05, Will Koll (138), who pinned CV’s Joe Igo in 0:36, and Michael Cree (113), who pinned SV’s Josh Devine in 2:51.
