Alex Katz capped up the Roncalli football team’s first drive with a three-yard touchdown run, but Brillion kept the Jets offense in check the rest of the way.

Katz would finish with 74 yards on 11 carries but Roncalli would fall 24-14 to visiting Brillion Saturday despite the early offensive showing.

The two teams traded scores on their opening possessions in what looked like a potential shootout.

Brillion took advantage of its opportunities, intercepting the Jets three times and recovering a fumble as the Lions built a 10-point halftime advantage and never looked back.

“Turnovers were a big key in this game,” Brillion coach Pete Kittel said. “Our special teams did a great job improving our field position as they recovered a fumble and were able to get an interception after putting pressure on the punter.”

Roncalli eventually tacked on a late touchdown on a one-yard plunge by Jared Patek but the damage was already done. Patek completed 6-of-8 passes for 72 yards to lead the Jets aerial assault. Roncalli’s Josh Erickson hauled in five passes for 64 yards while Katz caught a pair for 47.

The Jets visit Mishicot on Friday in a matchup of two teams with identical 2-2 records in the Olympian-Packerland Large conference.
