KCD basketball slips by DeSales 43-42

Robert Scholtz netted two free throws with 0:08 remaining to lift host Kentucky Country Day over DeSales 43-42 Wednesday night in high school boys’ basketball.

Anthony Mathis hit four 3-pointers and totaled a game-high 14 points, Scholtz added 11 and Henry Crockett 10 for KCD (4-2).

“All four of our wins this season could’ve been losses; but we’re learning and getting tougher,” Bearcats coach James Booker said.

The Colts (4-3) were led by Daniel Breedlove’s 13 points, Nathan Roush’s 12 and Chase Shellman’s 11.

* Waggener 58, Collegiate 54: The visiting Wildcats (4-3) connected on 11 of 14 free throws in the final period and held off the Titans (5-2).

Garrett Dennison and Roddrick Maddox each totaled 12 points for Waggener. Collegiate was led by Andrew Steggeman’s 16 points.
