Wall junior Nicole Kuerzi scored the game-winning goal with 17:04 left in the second half as the Crimson Knights defeated Ocean, 1-0, in a Shore Conference Class B North field hockey game Tuesday afternoon.

Kuerzi took the initial shot on goal and the ball was cleared by the Ocean goalie Sara Kraeutler (11 saves). After a major scramble in the circle, Kuerzi emerged with the ball and blasted a shot from about 8 yards out into the bottom right corner of the cage. Wall’s Bev Perkins made 1 save.

SJ VIANNEY 3, RB CATHOLIC 2: After Kelsey Borrell and Nicole Granito scored at 1:46 and 5:08, respectively, to give the Lancers (3-0, 1-0) a 2-0 lead in the first half, the Caseys (1-1-1, 0-1-1) rallied to tie it in the first half. First, Keri Turk made a penalty stroke at 12:15 on a shot to the middle left of the cage and then Alyssa Lubischer scored at 21:41. St. John Vianney’s Jackie Gallagher provided the game-winning goal at 49:17 on a penalty corner play after getting a pass from Amanda Marecsa.

RUMSON-FH 6, HOLMDEL 3: Senior forward Mary Kate Dengler had a career-high five goals as the Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0) defeated the Hornets (0-1, 0-1) in a Class A Central game. Dengler scored Rumson-Fair Haven’s final five goals and goalie Sarah Moore made four saves. Holmdel goalie Misha Nikou made 10 saves, Gianna Moglino had one goal and one assist and Erin Skamarak and Morgan Marra each had one goal.

MIDD. NORTH 3, COLTS NECK 0: Devon Freshnock had two goals and Amber Frick had the other goal and Vannessa Soler had two assists as the Lions (1-1, 1-0) defeated the Cougars (0-2, 0-1) in a Class A North game. Middletown North’s Gabby Tsakiris made six saves and Colts Neck’s Lisa Hannen made 15 saves.

MONMOUTH 1, MATER DEI PREP 0: Colleen Phelan blasted a shot from the top of the circle at 2:41 as the Falcons (1-2) defeated the Seraphs (0-3) in a nondivisional game. Mater Dei Prep’s Kaitlyn Nash made eight saves and Monmouth’s Hope Cahill made nine saves.

SHORE 9, RANNEY 0: Juniors Carol Middough and Grace Santi and freshman Jessica Welch each scored two goals as the Blue Devils (2-0, 2-0) defeated Ranney (0-1, 0-1) in a Class B Central game. Shore coach Nancy Williams got her 799th career victory.

IN GIRLS SOCCER

MONSIGNOR DONOVAN 4, BARNEGAT 0: Katie Weeks had two goals and one assist and led the Griffins (2-1, 2-0) past the Bengals (2-1-1, 1-1) in a Class B South game. Weeks’ 1st goal came at 9:25 when she converted a through ball Meg Collins’ through ball from the right side. Weeks settled the ball outside the 18 and then fired a shot to the low far post.

MANCHESTER 4, JACKSON LIBERTY 0: Samantha Gladis had two goals as the Hawks (2-1, 1-1) defeated the Lions (0-2-1, 0-2) in a Class B South game. On Gladis’ first goal, she converted a penalty kick to the lower left corner. On her second goal, she fired a shot from 12 yards out to the lower left corner. Manchester’s Chandler Copeland made three saves and Jackson Liberty’s Ariel Donza made 11 saves.

JACKSON MEM. 5, BRICK MEM. 1: After Travis Cifarelli scored at 1:41 to give the Mustangs (0-2, 0-2) a 1-0 lead the Jaguars (2-0, 2-0) responded by scoring five unanswered goals. Eddie Guippone started it off with a header at 2:58 after a pass from Oscar Rojas. Anthony Mandola added two goals and Christian Jiminez and Jordan Hodges each added a goal. Brick Memorial’s Brian Swider made 15 saves and Jackson Memorial’s Devyn Josko made five saves.

JACKSON LIBERTY 5, MANCHESTER 0: Jackson Liberty’s Mike Marino fronted the Lions offensive attack netting a pair of goals while temmates Roberto Delvalle, Henry Kim, and Ram Malichy each provided a goal.

IN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

WALL 2, MARLBORO 1: Senior outside hitter Olivia Hayes, freshman outside hitter-defensive specialist Katie Mitchell and senior setter Alyssa Stansfield led the Crimson Knights (2-0, 1-0) past the Mustangs (1-1, 0-1) in Class A North.

Hayes notched 13 kills and eight digs. Mitchell finished with three kills, five digs and four aces. Stansfield added four kills, 11 assists and five digs.

Senior outside hitter Jet Manzi led Marlboro with 15 kills, five aces and seven digs. Junior outside hitter Haley Unger added seven kills and six digs.

RUMSON 2, HOLMDEL 1: First-year Rumson coach Brooke Culver, a former Toms River East player, posted her initial career victory as the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-1) downed the Hornets (1-3, 0-1) in Class B North.

Senior setter Catherine Zimel keyed the win with 23 assists and two aces. Junior outside hitter Natalie Pellizzi added 13 kills and 11 digs. Holmdel senior libero Katherine Kim scrapped for 32 digs.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 2, RARITAN 0: The two-time defending Class B North champion Caseys (3-0, 1-0) were paced by senior middle hitters Denise Yachnik and Brooke Foley in their win over the Rockets (2-2, 0-1).

Yachnik finished with two kills, three blocks and seven assists. Foley added three kills, two digs and two aces. Senior defensive specialist-outside hitter Vanessa led the Rockets with three aces and four digs.
