Senior quarterback Ryan Kurtz ran 20 times for 108 yards and opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run as Keansburg outlasted Highland Park, 20-14, in a nonconference game on Friday evening.

Terry Murray and Chris Figaro added touchdown runs of 1 and 65, respectively, for the Titans, who are now 4-1 for the first time since 2007. That 2007 season ended with Keansburg making an appearance in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group I final.

Figaro finished with 77 yards on six carries to go along with an interception.

27, MIDD. NORTH 6: Brandon Piccini scored a 1-yard touchdown pass from Cody Thompson in the second quarter to give the Lions (0-4) their only scoring opportunity against the Knights (3-2) in a nonconference game.

Chris Middleton scored two touchdowns for the Knights including a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Junior Brandon Giles opened up the scoring for Old Bridge with a 42-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

SAYREVILLE 35, FREEHOLD TWP. 6: Senior quarterback Isaiah Cureton completed 6 of 9 passes for 128 yards with one touchdown and added a 1-yard rushing touchdown as Sayreville rolled to its fifth consecutive victory to begin the season.

Junior fullback Deion Miller carried the ball five times for 50 yards with a pair of touchdowns to pace a balanced rushing attack for the Bombers in which five Sayreville players combined to rush 18 times for 180 yards.

Sophomore running back/safety Miles Hartsfield had a standout night on both sides of the ball, sprinting for a 60-yard touchdown on the ground and intercepting a Freehold Twp. pass.
