Laconia beats Springs in four


Laconia High School’s volleyball team beat Springs in four sets on Thursday in Flyway action in Rosendale.

The Spartans won 25-16, 25-17, 24-26 and 25-12.

Morgan Gunnink led Laconia with 18 kills, and Alex Wegner added 10. Haley Smith had 36 assists, and Cassie Isaac led in digs with 16. Emily Ostram served five aces for the Spartans (21-10, 6-1 Flyway).

Eleanore Mueller paced Springs with 16 kills. Julia Moul had 33 assists and Molly Krueger was the top defensive player with 19 digs.

Fondy 3, App. West 1

At Fondy, the Cardinals won 25-17, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-16.

Jenna Rosenthal led Fondyw with 15 kills, and Sadie Warner added 11.

Rosenthal also led the team in blocks with 4 1/2 and aces with three.

The Cardinals’ dig leader was Kyra Gravelle, who had 15.

Fondy goes to 3-6 in the FVA and 15-25 overall.

The Cardinals won at home, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-18.

Nicole Seidl had 11 kills for North Fondy, and Shelby Demboski added eight. Allie Redeker had 13 digs for the Orioles and Breanna Kelly came up with 11.
