Lady Wildcats win Davidson Invitational



Clarksville High won the Davidson Academy Invitational for a fourth-straight year on Monday when it beat Franklin Road Academy by four strokes at the Old Hickory Club.

Anchored by Samantha Gotcher’s 2-under 69, the Lady Wildcats (26-2) shot a 142, with FRA’s 146 being the nearest scores.

Backing Gotcher were solid rounds from Megan Beane and Whitney Robertson, who shot a 73 and 77, respectively. Breana Smith, playing as an individual, shot an 80.

Among the teams in the field included Clarksville Academy finishing third after shooting a 157.

AnnaMichelle Moore shot a 74 and Bailey Foote had an 83.

On the boys side, Clarksville Academy finished 11th out of 13 teams shooting a 355. Collin Welker had the top scorer for the Cougars shooting a 79. Daniel Huang shot a 91, followed by a 92 from Trevor Mace. Nolan Blake added a 93 and Steven Hendrickson a 96.

Rossview 3, Northeast 0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-15)

Rossview High opened its volleyball season on Monday with a three-game sweep of Northeast in District 10-AAA action.

Janie White led the way for Rossview with nine kills, three digs, two blocks and one ace, while Regan Comperry had 11 assists, two kills, two digs and three aces. Mica Koontz and Sheridan Black also had a big day on the floor. Koontz had six kills, two digs and one ace and Black had two kills, one dig and three aces.

For Northeast, Yasmin Kiper had three aces, eight assists, six digs and six kills, Keziah Coobs had nine kills, one block and one dig. Rachel Barrow finished with four aces, one kill, and three digs, Michelle Donner had two aces, two kills, two assists, and eight digs. Also for the Lady Eagles, Alisa Flores finished with two aces, six assists, two kills, and three digs, Aaliyah Cottle had one ace, and 14 digs and Jessika Majors had two aces, one kill and five digs.

In JV action, Northeast defeated 25-23, 25-19.

Rossview plays Kenwood at home on Tuesday, while Northeast travels to Dickson County.

Clarksville High 8, Station Camp 0

Ella Baggett and Amber Colvin each recorded a hat trick and Clarksville High opened the Jeff Jordan era as head coach with an 8-0 win over Station Camp.
