The Lakeview High girls’ golf team took first-place squad honors at the 18-team Marshall Redhawk Open at Marshall Country Club on Friday, and Harper Creek’s Jozlin Johnson was the individual medalist of the tourney.
Lakeview had a 334 total, followed by Hanover-Horton in second with 342, Marshall in sixth at 380, Gull Lake in seventh at 381, Gull Lake in 12th at 419 and Harper Creek in 15th at 430.
Harper Creek’s Johnson carded a 77 in being low individual scorer for the event.
Lakeview received an 81 from Amanda Noakes (5th best), an 83 from Sarah Vocke (top 10), an 84 from Danielle Little (top 10) and an 86 from Megan Strole.
Marshall’s scorers were Amanda Genise with an 80 (3rd best), 97s from Sammi Price and Annie Cape, and a 106 by Jill Puckett.
Coldwater was paced by Katie Fair’s 91, followed by Anna Wendorf with 94, and Abby Donbrock and Cecilia Ward with 98s.
Gull Lake received a 100 from Alexis Sommerfield, a 102 from Cydney Martell, a 107 from Allie Baird and a 110 from Marley Studebaker.
Aside from Jozlin’s 77 for the Beavers, Harper Creek received a 102 from Miranda Maddox, a 123 from Baylee Wilkins and a 129 from Maeve Hammond.
Calhoun Christian 3, (at) Marshall Academy 0: The visitors posted wins of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-23. For Calhoun Christian (5-1 overall), Denise Penrod had 14 assists; Kelsey Snowball had seven kills and 15 digs; Sarah Butts had 14 digs; Rebecca Penrod had 10 aces; A.J. Moody had nine kills; and Hannah Huling had four blocks.
