GRAND HAVEN

The Lakeview ‘A’ wrestling team stayed unbeaten and earned some hardware on Saturday, winning the Grand Haven Invitational.

The Spartans went 5-0 on the day, defeating Class A eighth-ranked and host Grand Haven (42-17), St. Joseph (49-15), Zeeland East (65-9), Caledonia (54-18) and Spring Lake (58-18).

“The scores are decieving because we had a lot of close matches,” said Lakeview head coach Chris Dunham. “We knew this would be a good measuring stick for where we’re at. I’m really excited because it wasn’t our upperclassmen who pulled out the big wins, but our underclassmen.”

The Spartans remain unbeaten on the season at 9-0. They were led on Saturday by 5-0 efforts from Htay Thet (135 pounds), Ross Pennock (145) and Max Pennock (152).

Going 4-1 for Lakeview were Hayden Larochelle (103), Lal Sang (112), Colin Read (130), Jacob Harvey (160), Raunel Packer (189) and Rodney Harvey (215).
