A strong start to the season continued Tuesday night for Fort Collins High School’s volleyball team.

The Lambkins, fresh off a second-place showing at a tournament in Orlando, Fla., swept visiting Thornton in a nonconference match. Collins won 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.

“We came out a little slow, but we have to be realistic,” Lambkins coach Lindsey Blahauvietz said. “We just spent five days in Florida and are just getting our legs back. Hopefully, we’ll be in top shape for our next match.”

Mallory Dill and Coreen Norwood each had six kills and two blocks to lead Collins (6-1). Annika Midgarden added 27 assists to help in the victory.

The Lambkins went 5-1 last week playing at the KSA Events Invitational played at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. Their next match is Thursday against Rock Canyon.

“I obviously can’t complain about being 6-1,” Blahauvietz said. “We did come out slow tonight, and there are things we’ll have to work on. Rock Canyon will be a tough match.”
