Lansing's Caliel basketball tournament pushed back a day

Due to the expected heavy snowfall, Lansing High athletic director Adam Heck announced Wednesday that the Fred Caliel Basketball Tournament, scheduled for today and Friday at Lansing, has been pushed back a day.

Friday’s schedule is as follows:

* Junior Varsity: Moravia vs. Trumansburg,1 p.m.; Newark Valley vs. Lansing, 3 p.m.

* Varsity: Moravia vs. Trumansburg, 5 p.m.; Newark Valley vs. Lansing, 7 p.m.

The consolation and championship games will be played on Saturday, with JV games at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively. The varsity consolation and final are scheduled for 2:30 and 4:30, respectively.

Watkins Glen tournament: The boys varsity tournament games at Watkins Glen were pushed back from Wednesday to Thursday. Newfield will play Clyde-Savannah at 6 p.m., followed by Watkins Glen against Spencer-Van Etten at 7:30. Those games follow JV games scheduled for 3 and 4:30.

A determination on when the consolation and championship games at Watkins Glen will be played has not been made. The school hosts a girls tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Waverly tournament: The games at Waverly were also pushed back a day. The Waverly girls are now scheduled to play Tioga at 3 p.m. Thursday, with the boys facing Tioga at 7. JV tournament games are scheduled for 1 and 5. The boys and girls matchups between Wyalusing and Sayre at the Waverly tourney were rescheduled for Friday.

The four championship games at Waverly have been rescheduled for Sunday, with consolation games Saturday.
