Call it a team effort.

Sophomore Madison Wolf notched a double-double, four separate Golden Raiders drained 3-pointers and Sheboygan North breezed to a heavy-handed season-opener win Saturday night.

North led Muskego 22-8 by halftime in the Brookfield Central Tournament en route to the 48-29 win.

“It was a good win for us,” North coach Eric Spielman said.

“I was happy with our hustle and I thought we outworked them,” he added.

Wolf scored 13 points, tying with teammate Connor Dlugopolski to lead North’s scoring.

Wolf also had 11 rebounds.

Dlugopolski, Maddie Opie, Taylor Dallmann and Alysa Lutzke each hit a 3-pointer in the game.

It was a tale of two halves for Howards Grove Saturday.

The Tigers led 34-29 at halftime at non-conference opponent Algoma, but a cold third quarter saw the Wolves capture the lead and eventually run away with a 64-53 win.

Davis Nennig and Ethan Brinkman lit up the Tigers’ scoreboard; Nennig dumped in a game-high 20 points, and Brinkman added 14.

But Algoma was just a bit more consistent from the field — the Wolves shot 50 percent, to the Tigers’ 42 percent — and had double-digit scoring performances from three players to help turn the tide.

Howards hosts Oostburg on Tuesday.
