AMHERST, N.Y.-In WNY Federation Hockey play Saturday afternoon at the Northtown Center in Amherst Lewiston Porter blanked Williamsville South 4-0.
The Lancers struck first in the first period when # 3 Joseph DiMunda put a rebound past Billies goaltender # 31 Adam Tucker. DiMunda got his second goal in the second period and completed the hat trick with a short handed tally early in the third period. The Lancers other goal came off the stick of # 16 Joseph Langer late in the third period.
Lewiston Porter head coach Kevin Kirsch told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar “its the most complete game we’ve had this season. Offense, defense, special teams and outstanding goaltending. ” Lancers goaltender # 1 Tyler Shotwell stopped all 26 shots the Billies fired at him.
With the win Lewiston Porter improves to 2-4 in league play and 3-5 overall. Williamsville South drops its first league game of the season to put their record at 4-1 in league play. The Billies are 5-2 overall so far this season.
South coach Scott Horton, filling in for Sean Green who had a family commitment out of the area told Stu “We didn’t complete and we didn’t play hard. Hats off to them. They outworked us. Their goaltender played very well. We couldn’t get second chance goals like we have been. We are definitely capable of playing better.”
South goaltender # 31 Adam Tucker was a busy man as the Lancers fired 29 shots at him. Tucker finished the night with 25 saves.
South plays Bishop Timon Sunday afternoon at 12 noon at Cazenoiva.
