The Manitowoc Lincoln volleyball team went 4-1 on the day to take third at the Kaukauna Invite on Saturday.
The Ships went undefeated in pool play, defeating Oshkosh West, Xavier and Arrowhead. They would win by all three matches in two sets 25-19, 25-21; 25-22, 25-9; and 25-18, 25-12, respectively.
The beginning of the championship bracket was a little choppier of waters for Lincoln as Little Chute prevailed 25-18, 25-18 to force Lincoln ton the third place match.
A rematch with Xavier awaited the Ships, which won in three sets 17-25, 25-8 and 17-15.
Meg Wolowicz led Lincoln with a team-high 31 kills and 13 blocks while teammates Britney Youngchild had 48 digs and Mallory Dixon added team-highs in assists (90), digs (21) and points (28).
Lincoln (14-4) returns to action when it hosts De Pere on Thursday.
Valders would finish sixth in the invite hosted by Clintonville.
The Vikings dropped 2-out-3 games in pool play, falling to Shawano and Owen-Withee each in two sets by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-8, 25-4, respectively. Valders’ lone win in pool play came in three sets against Ripon 23-25, 28-18 and 17-15.
In the playoff bracket, the Vikings won their first match in two sets 25-21, 25-22 against Gladstone. Ripon would get revenge for the earlier defeat by knocking Valders out of the tournament 25-21, 25-23.
