The Manitowoc Lincoln girls tennis team, along with Waukesha and Prairie, recorded 13 points to finish tied for third at the Neenah Invite on Tuesday.

The Ships trailed Neenah’s 29 and Madison West’s 24 at the eight-team event.

The highlight of the day came at No. 1 singles for Lincoln, where freshman Bailey Budnik won three matches — including a 2-6, 6-3 (10-4) win over Appleton North’s Kelly Stymest in the championship match. Budnik won her first match over Prairie’s Sophie Main 6-0, 6-2 and then topped Madison West’s Lily Simonson 6-4, 6-1.

Also in singles, Kali Hackmann won two matches after dropping her first match to earn fifth in the No. 2 bracket. Seniors Seidl DeWitt (No. 3) and Haley Feller (No. 4) also fared well, each finishing third.

In doubles, the highest finish by a Lincoln pair was in the No. 2 bracket where Sydney Verbauwhede and Michaela Jagemann finished sixth by going 1-2.
