Sweeping the top five spots, the Pawling High School girls cross country team prevailed at a league meet at Lakeside Park in Pawling on Wednesday.
The Tigers finished with 15 points, easing past second-place Haldane’s 59.
Samantha McCarthy placed first in a winning time of 21:09, followed by teammates Sarah Marvin, Morgan Meaney, Sophie Espinosa and Danielle Heymach.
Fellow Tiger Lauren McNamara was seventh. Heather Winnie paced Haldane in eighth, while Meghan MacEnroe finished ninth for Beacon.
Arlington goes undefeated at dual meet — Arlington’s Bella Burda and Delphi Cleaveland finished first and second overall at the pre-League meet at Bowdoin Park late Tuesday.
Burda completed the 5-kilometer course in 19:18, while Cleaveland finished in 19:39. Arlington defeated Lakeland/Walter Panas, 18-45, topped John Jay 23-33, bested Roy C. Ketcham, 16-47, and beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 17-42.
John Jay’s Claire Gomba finished fourth in 21:18, six seconds behind third-place Meagan Hopkins. John Jay went 3-1 in dual-meet competition, Lourdes was 2-2, Lakeland/Panas was 1-3 and Ketcham was 0-4. Arlington’s Marina Eberhart placed fifth in 21:51.
Boys cross country
Matt Jorgensen captured first place, leading a parade of Pawling finishers at the top of the leaderboard, as the Tigers finished first at a league meet at Lakeside Park in Pawling.
Pawling ended with 15 points, and Haldane was second with 56.
Jorgensen finished in 17:50, with teammates Brandon Capo-Roth, Kevin Langone, Mikey Slattery and Derick Kowalczyk finishing second through fifth, respectively. John Hughes led all Haldane finishers in sixth place, and Davey Robertin was 15th for Beacon.
Arlington wins four at dual meet — Arlington’s Sibby Hanson placed first in 16:33 at the pre-League meet at Bowdoin Park late Tuesday.
Lakeland/Panas’ Galo Vasquez placed second in 17:16 before another three Admirals runners, who rounded out the top five: Aaron Ryley (third place, 17:18), Steve Morrison (fourth place, 17:27) and Chris Koenitzer (fifth, 17:34). Ketcham defeated Lakeland/Panas, Lourdes and John Jay and lost to Arlington.
Julia Cohen and Alice Lee each won singles matches as host New Paltz defeated Marlboro, 3-2, in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League match.
Marlboro’s Allison Laubach won at first singles.
Red Hook 3, Franklin D. Roosevelt 2 — Ella Lindholm-Uzzi won at first singles as the host Raiders defeated the Presidents.
Red Hook improved to 3-0 overall. Red Hook swept the doubles matches.
Katrina Ackerman and Tayor Perre won singles matches for Roosevelt.
Saugerties 4, Highland 1 — Gabi Lichtenstein won at first singles, but the visiting Huskies lost a MHAL match.
Luke Babirad and Andrew Chestney each shot a 45 at par-36 Red Hook Golf Club for the Hawks in Rhinebeck’s 189-213 win over Webutuck.
John A. Coleman Catholic 180, Millbrook 190 — The Blazers’ Tyler Prater shot a 4-over-par 40 at Kingston’s Wiltwyck Golf Club in a MHAL defeat.
Rondout Valley 155, Franklin D. Roosevelt 161 — James Cruger shot a 4-over-par 38 at Staatsburg’s Dinsmore Golf Course, but the host Presidents lost a MHAL match.
Ellenvile 178, Dover 204 — Playing at the par-34 Shawangunk Golf Course, Matt O’Brien fired a 44 in the losing effort for the Dragons in Ellenville.
Wallkill 175, Marlboro 192 — Ryan Haight shot a 7-over-par 43 at Osiris Country Club in Walden.
Spackenkill topped host Ellenville on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15, led by Morgan Hoeft’s 11 aces.
