Loyola College Prep has named Ron Fenwick as its new head baseball coach.
Fenwick, 33, served as freshmen coach for the Flyers in the 2012 season and brings a wealth of playing, coaching and teaching experience to the program.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to become head coach at Loyola,” Fenwick said in a release. “I’m looking forward to working with the players and helping develop the program.”
Prior to joining Loyola, he spent nine years in professional baseball as a player, two as a player-coach, and coached five seasons in various capacities in college, high school, and junior high.
“Coaching the freshmen this year gave me a feel for how the program at Loyola works and the desires of the players to be in a winning situation,” Fenwick said.
The Flyers were 21-11 in the 2012 season and reached the Class 3A state quarterfinals.
Since 2008, Fenwick has also been a baseball instructor at Extra Innings, Inc. in Shreveport giving private and small group lessons.
A native of Baltimore, Fenwick earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Recreation and Religion from Lee University where he also played college baseball.
