More than 70 people attended a 90th birthday celebration Tuesday for former Sidney Lanier football coach Bill Moseley at a luncheon at Farmer’s Market Cafe.
Moseley coached the Poets from 1949 to 1953.
Those in attendance included NFL Super Bowl champion and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr, Jim Chafin, “Snoozy” Jones, Charlie Berry, Ed Jones, Richard Fulmer, and Moseley’s wife Caroline and sons Eddie and Willie Moseley.
“I take pride in having coached Bart, as well as the rest of the boys,” Moseley said previously about Starr and his year at Lanier. “I’ve always been proud of them. They were the kind of boys that would look you in the eye and try to do whatever you asked of them. We built lasting friendships that have carried over today.”
