Trailing 6-1 in the sixth inning the Manitowoc Legion baseball team scored six runs and added five more in the eighth to top visiting Bay Port 12-8 in its regional opener of the State Tournament.

With regionals being double-elimination, Manitowoc advanced to take on Green Bay Southwest on Saturday night. Results from the game were unavailable as of press deadline. The winner of the matchup would advance to play the winner of the De Pere-Bay Port game today at 1:30 p.m.

Against Bay Port, Max Hansen was 2-for-5 with three RBI to lead Manitowoc offensively while Eli Steimle and Cole Wimmer were each 2-for-4, with Wimmer collected three RBI. Also for Manitowoc, Travis DuPont was 2-for-3.

Eli Steimle starter for Manitowoc and pitched five innings. He allowed six runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts. BJ Anderson pitched four innings of relief and earned the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and six walks with two strikeouts.
