BUFFALO, N.Y.-Burgard had a tough season last year. The Bulldogs finished 2-8. Head coach Jason Kolb told 2 On Your Side’s Stu Boyar that’s not happening again. “I’m looking for a better record I’ll give you that guarantee. “
One upside from last season for Burgard is that a lot of players got valuable playing time. Kolb told Stu, “They did. We had a lot of senior who graduated or didn’t finish the season out because of commitment but this year’s team is really committed. They’ve been there in the off season workouts and passing leagues so I know their passion definitely runs deeper than some of the previous kids that we’ve had.”
Burgard gets a gigantic boost from the return of Sean Marshall who spent last season at Canisius. Marshall said he learned some valuable lessons with the Crusaders. “Hard work is everything.” Marshall told Stu what he expects from his Burgard team. “Hard work, hustle, no scariness people just get ready to play football.”
It appears any issues with team chemistry are a thing of the past. Senior running back Dashawn Harmon told Stu “We just weren’t all on the same page basically like team chemistry was off all the way. This year boys is ready to listen play hard and strong. Fight for what we believe in, winning. “
Burgard opens it season Friday August 31st at All High Stadium against Lewiston Porter.
