Melbourne Central Catholic dominated Orlando Christian Preparatory, scoring six touchdowns and shutting out the Warriors 42-0 in a non-district game.
The Hustlers displayed a balanced run-pass attack on offense while their defense forced the Warriors to commit three turnovers.
The Hustlers scored on their first possession, driving 80 yards on nine plays with quarterback Brandon Ziarno connecting on four consecutive passes to Max Erdman while Alec Laflore moved the ball on the ground and scored the first points on a 3-yard touchdown run. The Hustlers added three TDs in the second quarter with Laflore scoring on runs of 1 and 7 yards.
KEY PLAYERS: The Hustlers rolled up 410 yards by using a balanced attack behind the strong running of Alec Laflore and passing of Brandon Ziarno. Laflore scored four touchdowns and gained 141 yards on 17 carries, while Ziarno connected on 17 of 22 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown. Ziarno has now passed for 1,011 yards in the first four games.
THEY SAID IT: “Our guys controlled the line of scrimmage, which allowed us to have a balanced run-and-passing game,” said MCC coach Mike Riazzi. “It was really nice that our defense got another shutout, including a goal-line stand.”
