Elmira senior Sean McGinley won the title at 285 pounds Saturday night to lift the Express wrestling team to a third-place finish at the Batavia Christmas Tournament.
McGinley was a 4-2 winner over Eastridge's Chyron Brown-Wallace in the finals after McGinley won by pin in the semifinals against Spencerport's Austin Coleman.
"He wrestled probably one of the best tournaments I've ever seen a kid wrestle," Elmira coach Dave Guyette said.
"He beat one of the top-ranked kids in New York state in the semifinals."
Spencerport won the team title at the 15-team event with 208 points. Blairsville (Pa.) was second with 181 and Elmira third with 176.5.
Charlie Kennedy (120) and Curtis Grant (138) added second-place finishes for Elmira.
Third-place finishers for the Express were Matt Reese (99), Charlie Mahon (113), Anton Brown (160) and Mitch McGowan (170).
Taking fourth were Connor Wilson (132), Luke Jackson (182) and Zack Benjamin (220).
Evan Rathbun added a fifth-place finish at 145.
"We had a very, very good tournament," Guyette said. "A lot of our young guys wrestled really, really tough all day long."
* Towanda 50, Wellsboro 48: Wellsboro outscored Towanda 18-8 in the fourth quarter but fell just short in a non-league loss Saturday.
Mackenzie Marple led Wellsboro with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
