Meet medalist Field paces Tigers golf team

EAU CLAIRE – Marshfield sophomore Molly Field and Osseo-Fairchild’s Kelsey Higley shared medalist honors at the fifth leg of the Clover Valley Golf League Thursday at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.

Field and Higley both came in with indentical scores of 43 during the nine-hole competition.

Runaway league-leader Osseo-Fairchild won the leg with a score of 179, while Marshfield was second with a 203. Stevens Point Areas Senior High finished fourth with a 216, Wisconsin Rapids placed sixth with a score of 238 and Neillsville was seventh with a 292.

The Tigers had all four scoring golfers finish under 60, with Macy Fitzgerald and Janelle Skaden finishing with scores of 52 and 53, respectively.

Katly Dalsbo was the low scorer for the Panthers with a 52, while Ariana De Las Alas shot a 55 to lead Wisconsin Rapids and Haleigh Eisfeldt shot a 61 to lead Neillsville.

COLBY – Lisa Horacek took second place in the 100 freestyle and was part of the 200 freestyle relay that also took second place in a dual meet loss.

The 200 free relay members were Lauren Kallstrom, Kenna Jensen, Raquel Lopez and Horacek.

SPENCER – Brooke Kettleborough finished with 26 assists and Tara Matter had 12 kills as the Rockets swept the the Dons in a Cloverwood Conference East Division contest.

Tynae Phillips helped out with nine assists, while the trio of Alicia Endreas, Lindsay Vaughn and Marisa Johnson paced the defense with nine digs apiece.

“It was a good performance with all 12 girls contributing to the win,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Brooke Kettleborough did a great job spreading the ball around.”

Medford 3, Menomonie 2

MEDFORD – Kylie Christianson had a solid all-around game for the Raiders with 16 digs, 13 kills and 10 assists, as Medford rebounded from dropping games three and four to down the Mustangs 25-18, 25-21, 13-25, 9-25, 15-11.

Ali Schreiner added seven kills and three solo kills for Medford.

“Ali really played with a lot of energy and passion,” Medford coach Dave Vaara said. “It was a great match, back-and-forth, especially the last game.”

ABBOTSFORD – Holly Denfeld, who recorded nine kills, and Andrea Krause led a strong defensive effort with 14 and 13 digs, respectively, to spark the Wildcats past the Falcons in a Marawood Conference dual meet.

Edgar dropped the first game and then rebounded to secure a 24-26, 25-17, 25-21, 25-14.

Wisconsin Rapids 4, Marshfield 1

The Raiders took down the Tigers on the legs of Seth Surendonk who had two goals, and Nick Reber and Zack Loken, who each had one. Reber also recorded an assist. Adam Vandenhaven scored the lone goal for Marshfield on the night, coming off a Matt McCann assist.
