THE WINNER: Stephanie Campbell
School: Lafayette (Wildwood, Mo.)
Athletic achievement: She led the Lancers to a 40-0 record and a second straight Class 4 state title this past season. Campbell recorded 254 kills, 96 blocks, 91 digs and 18 service aces for Lafayette, which did not drop a set the entire season. A 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour Honorable Mention All-American, Campbell is a two-time First Team All-State honoree and a three-time Academic All-State selection. She concluded her prep volleyball career with 756 kills.
Academic excellence: Campbell has maintained a 4.37 weighted GPA in the classroom.
Exemplary character: A winner of the Lafayette High Character Education Responsibility Award and a Missouri Bright Flight scholarship, she has volunteered as part of a local beautification project, as a peer chemistry tutor and as a youth volleyball coach.
“I’ve never coached a middle as quick and agile as Stephanie,” said Lafayette head coach Zach Young. “She could hit any set across the front row, which created matchup problems for every team we played.”
THE FUTURE: Campbell has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball on an athletic scholarship at Auburn University beginning next fall.
